On Sunday 16th July 2017 I preached on Luke 5:1-11. As part of my sermon I wrote a poem, I publish here the poem. Not the sermon.
The one who was sent, was speaking that day,
By the lake of Gennesaret, the words of God he did say,
From the boat of Simon, he sat and spoke some more
To the crowds, just a little way from the shore.
When the words he was given had been shared with the crowds
To Simon he did speak, these gentle historical words.
‘Put out to deep waters, let down your nets for a catch.’
It was the plan in His heart, that was about to hatch.
Said Simon to He, ‘We’ve worked hard all night through,
and with our knowledge and best efforts we have nothing show.
But you say the word and thy will be done.’
