Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted

I was inspired when I learned about the Prayer of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10. I first heard about it through this series by Walter Bright. I never knew that such a powerful prayer was hidden in plain sight in these two verses, in a book of the Bible that contains mostly genealogy. So when I was asked to deliver a message for the youth last July 15 (Saturday), I immediately thought of writing my own blog about the powerful prayer of this man named Jabez.

9 Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
