Remember as a child being afraid of the dark? It was always worse when my closet was left half way open. I could kind of see in, but I couldn’t see clearly. Just shadows and shapes combined with my imagination and I was certain there was a beast ready to devour my soul. In those times I would go wake up my Mom, not my Dad, so I could sleep on the floor next to their bed. I knew I was safe next to my parents. If I woke up my Dad he would take me back to my room, pray with me and leave me to the darkness. I liked Mom’s way more, but his solution was probably the better one.
