Jesus as Logos

Perfect Chaos

The writer of the book of John opens his gospel with some very well-known words. These words have been used by theologians as evidence that Jesus has existed eternally, alongside God the Father and God the Holy Spirit:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
(John 1:1-5 NKJV)

I have found this to be a difficult passage to fully comprehend, and I think many Christians would agree that it’s somewhat mysterious. When I think about Jesus, I picture in my mind a human form, and I’m not easily able to equate that…
