However, once a person has been saved from their sin, what is left for them to do? The answer … Continue reading Transformed by God

There are days when this world has made me lost,
I have been made confused by the world’s laws.
Yet I will not be dismayed when this happens,
When this occurs, I will not despair.
For my Lord has given me a Teacher to teach me,
A Guide to guide me has my Redeemer provided.
When I am lost, He will place me on the path,
When I lose the trail, the Spirit will direct me.
In my confusion, my Helper will give me focus,
When bewildered, He sets my eyes to the King.
So as I travel my way I will follow His lead,
Wherever He goes, I will be close behind.
For the path the Spirit goes is to life,
The way the Holy Spirit takes is to full life.
John 14:26 But the advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (NIV)
This is probably one of my favorite verses . It has brought me through many rough places in my walk. There has been times where it has give me great comfort knowing that his spirit guides me. Yes , it is very true that he teaches us but also he will show us where he has brought us from . He also protects us from many things . He has so many wonderful truths wrapped up in this verse . I am so glad that he has used this verse to mold my walk with him.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes. Psalm 119:11-12 (King James Version) All of us, at one time or another, have stumbled in our faith walk and yielded to temptation. It was after one of those stumbles that … Continue reading The Strength to Resist Sin
When doing the work of God, it is important to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit. In our zeal to do God’s will, it is very easy for us to get carried away and go wherever we think is best. We tend to lean on our own understanding and wisdom, if we see a need, we automatically assume it is our place to fill it.
While we might have the good intentions in our hearts, such thinking is dangerous and can lead to harm spiritually. Even though we see the need, that does not naturally mean it is our place to tend to it. That is because the needs that need to be met, we may not have the tools needed to fulfill what is required for that mission field.
Serving the Lord is not about giving the Gospel to as many people as possible in a rabbit like pace. Instead, we ought to serve the Lord in a tortoise style of thinking. At this speed, we can pay closer attention to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
It is the Spirit of God that ought to direct us to where to go and where not to go; not our own eagerness. What about those people that we do not reach? That is not our concern, the Lord will provide for them. As for us, we must follow what the lead of the Holy Spirit.
The follower of Jesus Christ is called to be different. When the world says that we ought to be upset when things do not go our way, the believer must exercise peace in the face of difficulty. As the world tells us that we want to be angry and rage on when someone or something offends us, the follower of Christ is quick to forgive and responds to an offense with love.
How can a true Christian be able to do this? The peace and love that comes out of a believer is the result of allowing the Holy Spirit of God to work in them. The Spirit molds the believer to be a reflection of Christ, so that after long periods of enduring hardships and difficulties (and not complaining about as many people do), the Christian will be able to look at themselves in the mirror and see Jesus in them.
Jesus Himself told us that we are to be a light in the world. Is your light in Christ strong enough so that others will see and come to you and ask you how you are different? If the answer is no, reflect and ponder what it is you are not allowing the Holy Spirit to work on and surrender it to Him. If the answer is yes, then I urge you to shine on and be different for Christ.
In Christ we are made new. Therefore, we need to stop thinking like our old selves and start thinking new life thoughts and doing new life things. This is a challenge for us because it is like starting all over again in life; like learning how to walk all over again.
However, we are not alone as learn to live a life that is new. Our Heavenly Father has promised to us a guide that will teach us and encourage us as we press on. That teacher is the Holy Spirit and it is important that we heed His words and His advice as we learn to move in our new bodies. Otherwise, our progress in our walk will go a lot slower than we want and we will miss out on all the things God has for us.
The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me. Psalm 138:8 (King James Version) I remember the day I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior, I was so excited to be part of God's family. However, the next day, when all the thrill died down, I asked myself, "What's next?" Once we accept Jesus, what … Continue reading Made Perfect in Christ
